Late Summer Stars

Another clear, moonless night and I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of the spectacular stars. One of the benefits of living in the middle of nowhere is the perfectly black night skies.

For these photos, I left the shutter open for almost a minute to collect enough light. As you can see, in just 60 seconds the stars have already moved across the frame a little bit causing them to look a little bit streaky. Click continue to see another photo.
Very cool shots. It sort of reminds me of this interesting NYT article. I sure wish we could have views like that here in Salt Lake.
