Announcing Fred & Ginger

We recently had to make a choice -- did we want to raise hundreds of little mice as pets, or get two cute kitties as pets?  The choice was easy!
Especially when Peter put his boots on last week and felt a live mouse at the bottom of them.  We haven't had mice inside yet, just in the garage.  But that's enough for me!

A friend here had some kittens available, and everyone says that cats are the only way to really get rid of mice.  So on Monday, we saw all the cute little kitties and chose an orange girl, Ginger, and a black boy, Fred.  It has been fun having them so far!  They are outside cats, so they stay in the garage.  John and Lucie love them.  The kittens love John, but are a little leery of Lucie since she carries them by their back leg or tries to step on them with her boots most of the time.  We're working on it.

I'm trying not to get too attached since sometimes things happen to outside cats in the wild.  Their job is to control the mice population.  This is a business arrangement.  But they're so cute!

In other news, we painted pumpkins with John and Lucie last week.  I'm not much into carving.  John did a great job.

And I had to take a picture of Lucie last week before church with her very first French braid.  It hurts to be beautiful.
