Where do I begin? We had the most wonderful time on our trip to Singapore.
We were gone 2 weeks. We drove to California on Thanksgiving Day (we had a lovely Thanksgiving Dinner at Jack in the Box), stayed with Peter's sister, Tiffany, in Sacramento, then stayed with Peter's sister, Christy, in Mountain View -- then on Sunday we got on the 20 hour flight to Singapore.

We anticipated the flight would be much worse with the kids than it was. Thank you to the makers of Benadryl!! They did really well the whole trip. None of us have really had any jet lag.
This is Lucie in her bassinet on the plane. It was really helpful!
We arrived in Singapore on Tuesday morning around 1:30 am. We stayed in a great 3 bedroom apartment with Peter's parents -- Meme and Big Dad (John and Julie) -- who are serving a mission for our church in Malaysia. They come to Singapore every 3 months to renew their visas, so we met them there.
This is our hotel.
The shopping in Singapore is unbelievable. There were malls and malls and malls with really high end stores -- all decorated beautifully for Christmas.
We were also able to spend lots of time relaxing with the kids by the pool.
We had a great time at Raffles Hotel -- an old British hotel built in the late 1800's that is very high society and beautiful. Julie and I got to have High Tea there.
Julie and I shopped at Arab Street where they have beautiful silk fabrics.
In Chinatown, we found this one booth where they painted different words or sayings in Chinese characters. One caught my eye that was pretty, then I saw that it happened to be my name. Then I got to looking around, and my name was all over the place. I asked the woman there why they painted Sarah so much, and she said because it's a popular name. Then in the middle of all the Sarah's, I saw this:
Is Billy Anna also a popular name somewhere?
We also got to walk through the Botanical Gardens. I can't even describe how beautiful they were. The flowers and trees were so incredibly beautiful.
I'm not very adventurous in trying new authentic Chinese foods. So we ate mostly American food, which was all delicious. I had never been to Asia before, and I think going to Singapore was a nice intro to Asia since it is so westernized.
The people were so nice and willing to help. I was impressed with how nicely everyone was dressed. The women all wore very pretty shoes and dresses. We really liked Singapore.
We loved getting to see Peter's parents. The kids enjoyed just playing around the hotel with them all day long.
It was very sad to have to say goodbye. But we are happy they are able to serve the people of Malaysia, and we can't wait for their return in just a few months (about 8 to be exact)!
This is pretty much how Lucie's been since we've been home:
There are lots more photos of our trip under the Photos tab if you're interested. Also, please consider the incredible humidity when you see pictures of me. My hair was kind of crazy. Lucie's was so cute and curly!
I was just thinking about you and the plane flights. I'm so glad they went well and that Lucie was able to sleep in the bassinet. She looks so cute in there! I hope you weren't hating me for suggesting things that didn't work for you- I was feeling bad after we got off the phone.
Cute pictures! Glad you had a wonderful time.
So Glad you had a FABULOUS time. I have been thinking of you and wondering how you you all are enjoying your trip. LOVE the pictures. It looks amazing but I am glad you are home safe in the USA!!! Have a VERY HAPPY Holiday Season!
IT LOOKS LIKE JOHN HAD A GOOD TIME THERE AND LUCY!!!
There is no doubt that you were the most welcome sight in singapore to John and Julie.
so many things i love about these pictures: how green and lush everything is, how you're dressed in summer clothes with red, windburned cheeks, Lucies hair, etc. Looks like a great time!
Sarah, thanks for sharing. I would like to hear the details, when we finish Christmas time. Do planes have bassinets like this? Never seen one before!
